Corporate Leaders Exceed Their Diversity Inclusion Initiative Goal for 2010

In 2010 corporate leaders joined together to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to diversification and inclusion by launching the Inclusion Initiative.  The goal of the Inclusion Initiative was to spend $30 million with minority and women owned law firms.  The member companies, which include Accenture, American Airlines, Comcast, DuPont, Exelon, General Mills, GlaxoSmithKline, Microsoft, Prudential, Sempra Energy and Walmart, exceeded that goal, spending $42.6 million in the first year.  Google, JPMorgan Chase, Macy’s, Shell Oil Company, Verizon and Xerox have joined the Inclusion Initiative, and the 17 member companies have announced a spending goal for 2011 of $70 million, expanding opportunities for outstanding and talented MWBE law firms to serve the needs of corporate legal departments .  The Inclusion Initiative is administered by the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF), an organization of nearly one hundred certified MWBE law firms.
